A great way to finish off the SUMMER!!!

We usually end our summer with the annual 'P campout'.  The weather was beautiful.  Ben took Friday off so we were able to arrive earlier than usual.  It was amazing how arriving just a few hours earlier made a difference.  The kids were able to play and explore more than usual.  Lexie loved just wandering arround and checking everyone and everything out.  She loved finding rocks and acorns and other interesting things nature has to offer.  There were a lot of dogs around....so she spent most of her time saying, "og" (dog) and saying "Woof-woof".  And Parker was very helpful, and had a watchful eye on her...when he was not busy playing.

There is about one year between the three of these cuties....which makes it a little easier for them to get along.  Parker enjoyed the E's icee's....probably a little too much, we may owe them a pack.  And Parker loved his sleepover with L.  They also swam at the beach together and rode bikes and fought off playground bullies together:)
We don't have a camper...or a tent big enough for the 4 of us....so we kept our food by Ben's parents camper and went to my friends house at night to sleep.  But she knew where to go to find her toys or to get something to eat.
I love these pictures of her.  This is what her day consists of.....she can sit and spend several minutes looking through books, pointing to and studying the pictures.  She loves books and when she just wants to sit and snuggle, she will usually bring a book for you to read to her.

A rare encounter....a mama deer and her fawn

My SIL created a scavenger hunt for the kids.  They paired off and had a list of things to find.
Afterwards we played candy bar bingo (my personal favorite).  I think the kids enjoyed having a couple of games to play.....and I think the adults enjoyed the games too.

Ben stayed back and put Lexie down for a nap while Parker and I headed to the beach.  He loved digging in the sand with his cousin.

and splashing in the "disgusting river".  He begged and begged me to take him to the local pool...we were all ready to go when some of his cousins changed their minds about going.  So we all decided to go to the beach.  Parker was not happy at first.  He kept saying it was gross and something was going to bite him, and on and on.  I think once he got there and saw how much fun everyone was having, he was ok with being there.

Later that night Parker went with his cousins on their "ice cream run"  this time I think it was frozen yogurt.  I told my BIL not to tell him its frozen yogurt because then he won't even try it.  When he returned I asked him what he got he said, "Chocolate ice cream with PBcups." I told him it was frozen yogurt.  He looked at me funny and told me it was AWESOME!!!!   It is always good to try new things:)
The next morning was Sunday.  All the campers gather for a big breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon.  Then, pack up and get ready to leave.

I am not a huge "camper" maybe if I actually had a camper to sleep in, it might be OK.  But we always look forward to the annual camp out and enjoying time together and relaxing...without electronics or the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  It was very relaxing.  We love spending time with family and catching up on each others lives.  We look forward to doing this all over again, next summer.

And last but not least.....Our church ward always does a night at the baseball game.  We sit in the grassy area and let the kids play with one another, while we chat with friends.  This year they build a farris wheel, just a few feet where we were sitting.  Parker's friends kept asking him to go with them...but he was a little scared.  Finally he gave into peer pressure:)  We went up with our friends.  Brooke and Lucas joined us too:)  It was the kids first time....plus I don't know how long its been since I have been on....it was fun!!!! The babies loved it!!!

View from the top!!!!  what a great night to finish off the summer!!!!
