First Grade Graduation

We had a neat opportunity to attend Parker's FIRST grade graduation!!!  I can not believe this year is already over and that my baby with be in second grade, next year.  Our family has enjoyed all that Rivermont has had to offer....Parker has grown up so much this year....he is getting bigger and more mature and no longer is a "little kid" so he tells me.
Parker with his first grade teacher....she was just what he needed to get through the school year.  We have enjoyed getting to know her and she will be missed as he moves onto second grade.  He also helped me make her 'thank you' gift.  He is quite creative when he wants to be.
Parker recieiving his certificate of completion from the Headmaster.

I am so proud of this kid.  He worked so hard all year on eveything from reading, to writing, to creating art and projects.  I don't think either of us realized the challenge we were in for.  But we all worked together to help him succeed.  A few things about his first grade year:
  • Favoite subject (besides lunch and recess) Math
  • Not so favorite: Science
  • Favorite thing to do: Play soccer at recess and the Daily 5 (Read to self, Read to a friend,
  • Favorite event: Fun Run
  • Happiest moment: Solved problems
  • Favorite Field Trip: Pumpkin Patch
  • Bestest Friends: K/K/D/A
  • Scariest moment: First Day of School
  • Favorite Teacher: Mrs. P (homeroom teacher)
  • What he will miss about First Grade: "Its a little easier than 2nd grade"
  • What was most challenging about First Grade: Math
  • What he looks forward to, going into Second Grade: Do more math

After graduation Dad went to work and Grandma and I took Parker and Lexie out for lunch...his pick...McDonalds.  He is ready to take a break from school but is excited to return in the fall.  There are so many people who love him and support him.  We are very proud of all of his successes this year....love you Parker!!!
